Be a HALO Program Buddy
The Halo Program is a 10-week intensive counseling program for foster and adoptive children and their families, ages 5-18. The HALO Program was created by Cindy R. Lee, LCSW in partnership with HALO Project International.
The program is designed to meet the emotional needs of the child in order to achieve healing from emotional trauma. Families reach a state of healing and no longer need access to further mental health services. (Halo Project website). Each intensive consists of one weekly family therapy session, one weekly Trauma Education Class (TEC) for parents, and one Kids Club (per age bracket).
Buddies are required to complete the application process, submit a current Certificate of Good Conduct for the year, and attend two one-hour training sessions in preparation for the HALO Program. A full ten-week commitment is expected. Buddies must arrive 30 minutes before the weekly two-hour Kids Club begins and remain afterward to assist with cleanup.
Submit your request to receive an application to be a HALO Program Buddy. Only six slots are open due to the one-to-one ratio of buddies to children so acceptance is on first come, for serve basis. Please submit one month prior to the HALO Program start date.
